More Than Meets The Eye – Associate Composer conducts LPO musicians!

Side view of Ben Lunn standing conducting on a concert stage - A seated violinist and other musicians are visible in front of him.

We are delighted that Ben Lunn, who among the many other hats he wears is our Associate Composer, has curated and is conducting an exciting concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra – More Than Meets the Eye which will be performed at St John’s Church Waterloo this Thursday 15th January.

The concert views classical composers  through the lens of disability history including John Stanley who was blind and Gustav Holst whose various health conditions affected the direction his musical career eventually took. Contemporary disabled composers including Ben himself and Sarah Lianne Lewis also feature in the programme.

Sarah Lianne won a 2025 Royal Philharmonic Society Award for her composition ‘letting the light in’ commissioned as part of our recording project in collaboration with pianist Siwan Rhys and the Welsh Music Centre Tŷ Cerdd, supported by PRS for Music Foundation’s Beyond Borders funding. Her track gives its name to the album of work by 6 disabled composers which is available from NMC Recordings:
