Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is for Drake Music Scotland to establish, promote and maintain the mental health and wellbeing of all staff through workplace practices, support staff to take responsibility for their mental health and wellbeing, and signpost to relevant mental health and wellbeing resources when applicable.

Drake Music Scotland believes that the mental health and wellbeing of our staff is key to organisational success and sustainability.

Goals 

  • To build and maintain a workplace environment and culture that supports mental health and wellbeing and prevents discrimination, including bullying and harassment.  
  • To increase knowledge and awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues and behaviours, including through training.  
  • To encourage and facilitate active participation in a range of initiatives that support mental health and wellbeing such as groups that work together on specific projects. 
  • To reduce stigma around mental health in the workplace. 
  • To continue to refine and improve methods of accessing support. 
  • To review policy annually and ensure it remains fit for purpose. 

 

Responsibility 

All team members are encouraged to: 

  • understand this policy and seek clarification from management where required. 
  • consider this policy while completing work-related duties and at any time while representing DMS. 
  • support fellow team members in their awareness of this policy. 
  • support and contribute to DMS’s aim of providing a mentally healthy and supportive environment for all team members. 
  • be involved in initiatives developed as a result of this policy and support others who choose to take part in these. 

 

All team members have a responsibility to: 

  • take appropriate care of their own mental health and wellbeing, including physical health. 
  • show sensitivity to other people’s mental health and wellbeing, particularly around issues such as bereavement, compassionate leave, specific circumstances and phobias. 
  • take appropriate care that their actions do not affect the health and safety of other people in the workplace. 

 

Managers have a responsibility to: 

  • ensure that all team members are made aware of this policy and actively encouraged to take part in any initiatives developed as a result of the policy. 
  • actively support and contribute to the implementation of this policy, including its goals. 
  • model healthy work practices, such as good life/work balance. 
  • manage the implementation and review of this policy. 

 

Communication 

Drake Music Scotland will ensure that: 

  • team members receive a copy of this policy during the induction process. 
  • this policy is easily accessible by all team members. 
  • team members are informed when a particular activity aligns with this policy. 
  • team members are empowered to actively contribute and provide feedback to this policy. 
  • team members are notified of all changes to this policy. 

 

Monitoring and Review 

Drake Music Scotland will review this policy twelve months after implementation and annually thereafter. Effectiveness of the policy will be assessed through: 

  • feedback from team members, management, and the Board. 
  • review of the policy by management and committee to determine if objectives have been met and to identify barriers and enablers to ongoing policy implementation.
