What information we collect and how we use it
When you use this website
Through Google Analytics, we collect anonymous statistics about your visit, like which of our pages you viewed. All of this information is anonymous – so we don’t know who you are; just that somebody visited our site. If you sign up to receive a newsletter with us we take great care to keep your information safe and we’ll never share it with others without your express permission.
If you sign up for a service
When you sign up for any of our services we will record specific personal information about you, such as your name and email address. We will also collect and store information about your use of our services so as to improve them.
If you sign up for our quarterly E-newsletter
DMS use Mailchimp to manage our newsletter mailing list. Mailchimp is a US based company but has self-certified to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield regimes, and lawfully transfers UK and EEA personal data to the US in line with their Privacy Shield Certification. This means they store and use your data in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
If you make an online donation
DMS use Justgiving to process online donations. Justgiving will have access to your personal and payment information. DMS do not ever have access to your credit/debit card details. Justgiving will give you the option of choosing to share your contact details with us (to enable us to further contact you for example) or to donate completely anonymously.
If you make an online payment
DMS use PayPal to process credit/debit cards and accept payment via PayPal for our shop transactions. PayPal will have access to your personal and payment information. When paying by credit or debit card, DMS do not ever have any access to your card details.
DMS may send you email notifications regarding your service (such as invoices) or which you have specifically requested (such as newsletters). You have the ability to opt out of any of this communication at any time.
We will never provide your personal information or email address to any third parties except where they are specifically employed to help deliver our own services.
Why we collect this and how we will use this information
- To respond appropriately to any requests for information or services.
- To send our newsletters only if you have requested this. We will never send you email marketing simply because you have contacted us or donated to us.
- To improve our website. The anonymous data collected by Google analytics will help us to understand what parts of our sites are doing well, how people arrive at our site and so on.
Who we share your information with
We will never sell your personal information. We also never share your personal information with other parties for their own marketing purposes. However, we use the third party payment, donation and mailing platforms Paypal, Justgiving and Mailchimp which will share your contact details if you have consented for them to do this. We will never have access to the bank details you disclose to these sites.
Legal basis for processing
The legal basis on which we collect and process your personal data depends on the personal information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it.
However, we will only use your personal information where we:
- have your consent to do so
- need the personal information to provide a contracted service with you
- need to process your personal information for our legitimate interests and only where our legitimate interests are not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms
- have a legal obligation to collect personal information from you (e.g for child and vulnerable adult protection purposes)
Accessing and updating your personal data
You can request access to any information we hold about you by contacting us at Drake Music Scotland, 11 Harewood Road, Edinburgh, EH16 4NT, or firstname.lastname@example.org or 0131 659 4766. Please let us know of any changes to your personal information.
International transfer of your information
We will always seek to store your personal information in the UK. However, on some occasions, the information we collect may be transferred to our payment, donation and newsletter mailing campaign platforms who may be based outside of the UK. Where we allow a supplier to process your personal information outside of the UK, we will ensure that we create and maintain appropriate safeguards with our suppliers so that your personal information is subject to the same standards and protections as apply to us when we are processing your personal information in the UK.
How long we keep your information
DMS only hold on to your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes for which we collected it. After that we will either delete it or anonymise it so that it cannot be linked back to you.
