Drake Music Scotland is celebrating the creativity of older people with an afternoon of workshops and performances as part of Luminate – Scotland’s first nationwide Festival of inspirational arts activities with and for older people. Rhythm for Life at Livingston’s Howden Park Centre on Monday 22 October will culminate with the first UK performance by the band Riskiryhmä – an all-female over-70’s rock group from Finland!

1 – 3pm Rhythm for Life
Come along to find out about Drake Music Scotland’s ‘Rhythm for Life’ project involving participants from Acredale, Braid House, Rosebery and St. Michaels Day Centres, with funding from the West Lothian Challenge Fund.

3.30 – 5.30pm Figurenotes Music Workshops
For complete beginners – Learn to play keyboards, guitars and drums. Led by Finnish education specialists from the Resonaari Music School. Drake Music Scotland technology will be available ensuring that participants with a physical disability are able to take a full part in any practical activities.

6.30 – 7.30pm Performance by Riskiryhmä
All the way from Finland, this band certainly blow all the clichés away…all women over 70 playing classic rock music from the 60s and 70s!
