Drake Music Scotland will be at Celtic Connections 2011 helping Fèis Rois to launch its silver jubilee year with a birthday concert on Saturday 22 January, 2:30pm at City Halls, Glasgow.

In 2010, Fèis Rois commissioned composer and musician James Ross (pictured below) to write new music which was performed by a team including four professional musicians, Drake Associate Musician Matilda Brown, five Fèis Rois young musicians and pupils from St Clement’s school playing a mix of traditional Scottish instruments and inclusive music technology. The pieces High Five and Spring March were premiered in Strathpeffer in June and have been chosen to open Saturday’s celebration.
“The second part of the concert” says Fèis Rois “features 25 musicians who, between them, represent the 25 years of Fèis Rois. 15 of the performers are professional musicians who starting playing music through Fèis Rois and have now gone onto carve our very successful careers in the Scottish music industry.
