We’re delighted to be nominated for a British Composer Award (BASCA) 2018 for our Microscopic Dances commission of Oliver Searle with National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS).
Microscopic Dances was written for young musicians of our Digital Orchestra and NYOS’s Jazz Orchestra and wowed audiences at its premiere in Edinburgh in August 2017. Searle took inspiration from dance rhythms (e.g. Jitterbug, Tango) for each movement and our musicians rose to the challenge of performing this fun, brilliant and technically challenging piece.
The awards ceremony takes place at the British Museum on 4 December 2018.
